New to the area!
Hey everyone, I'm really glad to find this site with what appears to be some very serious enthusiasts. I just bought a 2002 A4 Avant with the 3.0L Quattro, no mods yet, but plenty to come. I'm a definite DIY guy, but these cars might prove a challenge. I'm looking forward to finding out more!

Hey guys, my name is Nelson. I currently drive a 2013 Subaru BRZ Limited 6MT in WRB.
I used to own a 97 A4 2.8, and a 2001 A6 2.7T.
I'm considering getting an Audi again. I love my BRZ but I want something with a nice interior and some ***** under the hood.
I'm here to educate myself over the rest of this year if I can hold out that long
I really like the look of the A3 sedan although I'm partial to the A5. However, money is an issue for me. If I were to go brand new I wouldn't want to spend more than $30-35k which really limits my options.

2003 A4 1.8T Quattro tiptronic sedan purchased new, 93,000 km has been in storage for 3 years since we moved to deep snow-prone area and found it necessary to purchase 2005 Subaru Outback AWD 2.5 litre now with 125,000 km. (and twice the ground clearance of the A4). Returning to less snowy area but unsure which car to keep. A4 needs timing belt as it is stretched to point where tensioner at limit. Front pads getting worn, rear pads excellent. A delight to drive. Outback very similar in many respects (size, power, heated seats, AWD, discs, etc.) but with worn transfer clutch (judders on full lock, otherwise fine). Fuel costs comparable -- A4 fewer litres/100 km but requires premium fuel. Would really welcome comments on long term potential problems with A4 (vs. Outback if possible). Well aware of higher prestige and ultimate handling of Audi (and higher repair costs?) -- was founding member of an Audi Owners Club branch -- but now at over 80 years old my driving is now a touch more restrained. I have an A4 technical question and will now strive to find a place in the forum where I can ask it so my current message doesn't get bumped! Thank you all very much.
