Sound Dampening, Dynamat, and Under-body Coating
Anyone have any experience with this type of mod? I plan on upgrading my sound system and wanted to know how to make the music sound as well as it possibly can inside the car. I'm somewhat familiar with the concept of Dynamat, just unsure of the best places to apply it, and whether or not there are better bargain products out there.
On a related note I heard that applying a thicker layer of under-body coating to the bottom of your vehicle will help keep sounds in and out. Would this make a noticeable difference in road noise reduction and sound system quality?

it will improve sound quality a little mostly it will stop the rattling. The trunk and license plate rattle alot and also there are sum vents on the bottom rear that let out air and those make a funky noise when the bass goes. At least in mine they do.

the front dosent really rattle to muchi n our cars. AT least mines dosent. The biggest pain for me in the stock subwoofer and the particle board its mounted on. It always vibrates agasint the third brake like. I havent had a chance to try to fix the rattle but maybe stuff some foam up in there or if u got real small hands dynamat that.

I'm planning the same mod. I've got a TT, so of course the hatch will be first. License plate isn't bad if you attach some foam tape to the back so it doesn't vibrate against the car. Also, I've always heard the "rule of thumb" with dynamat is 1ft surrounding the smaller speakers(doors and smaller panels), and the entire trunk(trunk lid also)when running subs. And whatever you do, take your time, prep the panels well so you get good contact. And if they have an option of the tools that come with the kit, do it. It's more than worth it.
