Default Will 245/40/18 fit?

I am reposting from the A6 site since no one replied. I have a 2004 Audi A6 S-Line. I bought a set of 18x8.5 Stern ST-2 with 235-40-18 tires. the only problem is that I have to get spacers and the guy said I need 10mm spacers in order to clear the front calipers. so, technically i will have "245" right? im worried that it will rub. any input would be GREATLY appreciated!

If you have 235mm wide tires and add a 10mm spacer, it will push the outer edge of your tire out by 10mm.
If you go from a 235mm tire to a 245mm tire, the outer edge will only be 5mm further out. (Divide extra 10mm by two)

I don't know if a 235mm tire with a 10mm spacer will fit on an A6. If no one replies to your post with a solid answer, either find someone with a 10mm spacer and try it on your car, or, get some scrap 3/8 inch plywood and make a "spacer" (3/8 inch = around 10mm) out of it.

Mount your tire TEMPORARILY (do NOT drive with the wood spacer on) with the wood "spacer" in place, and turn the steering wheel fully both ways to check the clearances.
