please excuse my lack of caps I'm using android voice recognition

I just bought a used 98 audi a4 1.8t quattro and have 2 questions I'm hoping someone can help me with.

the first is a coolant slash exhaust smell that I smell in the cabin. when set to recirculating air I do not smell it so I do not suspectthe heater core. there was a coolant leak which I have fixed. I do not smell it when the car is first started so I've ruled out exhaust. the coolant reservoir is full so I don't think it's a coolant leak either. I've put about 250 miles on the car since fixing the leak. is it possible that the smell is still residual coolsnt that has not been burnt off yet? if not any ideas with this might be?

number 2 is a bit simpler. when I engage the left turn signal the high beams turn on. when I use the lane change mode they do not turn on. is it difficult to replace the stick and if so is there a simple fix that I might be able to do to stop the brights from turning on when the left turn signal is fully engaged? I was thinking about adding a switch for the high beams but I'd need to know what write to splice into.
