Timing belt
I'm looking at a 2006 A4 at a dealership with 112K miles. There's a sticker under the hood prominently stating the date the belt was replaced, January 2021. I checked the CarFax and that's also when the dealer bought the car. So it seems likely that the dealer had the belt replaced, not because they are nice folks, but because it was broken when they bought it. Maybe they replaced the valves and guides, too, but maybe they didn't. Should I steer clear of this car, or is there a way to tell if anything was damaged when the belt broke. They have a decent reputation, but I would still not to just take their word that everything is/was OK.
