Sticks to 5th gear when cruising in 85 km/h
Have a brand new 2010 A6 3,0 TDI with Tiptronic transmission.
Case 1. Why does this superstrong car have to keep in 5th gear and 1,800 rpm when cruising on a level road in 85 km/h? Manually upshifting with paddles or gear stick does not work.
I drive 60 km per day on a road restricted to 80 km/h and hate the effect this has on mileage.
Case 2. I run in 90 km/h in 6th gear and the road start going slightly downhill. If I then very slowly reduces the speed it DOWNSHIFTS to 5th at around 85 km/h! Under no load at all...
I have been told it might be better when the Tiptronic DSP system has learned my driving behaviour. But I have been really gentle on the throttle for 2,000 km now. No kick-downs or high rews what so ever. And, by the way, I don't use the transmissions S-mode at all.
My 2006 A6 3,0 TDI with Tiptronic had perfect shifting points. At Audi they say the 2010 is very much improved...
