Squealing / Squeaking Brakes

Squealing / Squeaking Brakes
We just bought our first Audi, a 2006 CPO A8...it has 30K miles on it and is in pristine condition.
The only problem is that the brakes squeal. Usually when slowing down under 30-40 mph and above 10 mph. I spoke to the service guy at the dealership where we bought the car and he tells me this is a normal phenomenon and that if I drive the car at a higher speed and brake hard it will burn off the glaze and thus the squeak...but that it will return when driving around town. He said that Audi issued a bulletin on this.
We've been BMW owners to this point and have NEVER had an issue like this and find it hard to believe this is normal.
Is this normal? Or is there a solution?

i saw a little packet at auto zone last week that you squeeze this stuff on the brake pads and the noise goes away. i just glances at it and dont know much about it. it was like $3 though. idk if you would want to try something like that first...

They do have stuff that you can spray on the back of the pads to help stop the squeal.
When I used to do a brake job I coated the rear/metal portion with silicon that you use for gaskets. It insulates the pad from the calipar and the brake doesn't squeal anymore. Its the vibrations that the pads make that transfers to other parts that make the squealing sound.
Good Luck...

same thing
I just bought a 05.5 A4 from the dealer, and ive brought it to the dealership twice now and they say everything is fine. they said it's normal, but i dont think its normal.
It only happends to me when i'm breaking really slow like when i'm stuck in traffic or in a parking lot, or coming up to a light. They say theres is nothing else they can do because everything checked out fine and they gave me a brochure about it. If i break hard then i dont hear anything.
i cant drive with my windows down because when i break, maybe 90% of the time it will squeal.
I will let you know if i find anything else out about it. This cant be normal.

It is normal for the brakes to do this but there are also steps that can be taken to solve the problem.
