PLEASE HELP, throttle problem, bone stock, low miles =???
I just kinda inherited a 98 A4 1.8t, tiptronic. This car was hardly used, has 10,200 miles. Its bone stock and pretty much in mint condition. It ran smooth at first but battery was toastso i had to replace it, and now it will idle at about 300rpm (sometimes shutting off if cold). I can hold the peddle to around 1000rpm and it will stay, but if i hold the pedal at anything above it will stall bigtime and kinda bounce back and forth. doesn't really get past 25mph. The car has no mods and has hardly been used, problems came about pretty much after battery replacement. check engine light is on. i've checked the obvious i believe, any ideas anyone? thanks.
update- i tried doing the throttle body adjustment, followed these steps http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...threadid=17224
i didn't hear any whine and would swear nothing was going on with the throttle body at any point in doing this.\
any ideas?

If you haven't already , just start checking the simple things, plugs and wires, how long was it sitting? - check the air intake - did a mouse or something make a home in there to restrict air-flow, get the injectors cleaned, i'm not a big motorhead so I dont no if audi's have pilot jets or not. but I had the same problem with a engine a few yrs back, and all it was, was about 10bucks worth of pilot jets....
Good luck

take it to autozone and use their loner scanner to get the codes that are tripping the CEL. then post the codes on here and we can tell you what may be wrong....you can also check this list for a vag-com in your area. the vag-com is much better and will give you a more specific diagnosis...

Like jest said clean out the intake and make sure the idle speed motor or t/b is not clogged. but if it has a check light the codes should point you in the right direction
