oil temperature indicator turns on and off
Hello,
I have a 97 Audi quattro 1.8 turbo with 97,000 miles. The oil temperature indicator keeps turning on and off. I replaced the oil temperature with a genuine replacement. I also changed the oil and coolant but the issue continues. Does anyone have any hints as to what could be causing this?
Thanks,
Francisco

Yeah it's actually the pressure light. I changed the pressure switch and put in new oil plus a filter. The light is on while driving but it actually comes on when I come to a stop.
I took the pressure switch out and put in a pressure gauge. It's reading okay at 2k rpm although at idle it reads 10 PSI. It also currently has a tiny oil leak.

Well.. being an older 1.8 I would start looking into the "sludge" problem. Do a search on the board and google. You'll find tons of info.
