Oil temp gauge?

Oil temp gauge?
Never have I seen an oil temperature gauge in any car before! I would much prefer to have an oil pressure gauge. I fail to see a usefulness for monitoring oil temp and then have to depend on an idiot light to tellyouyou're out of sufficient pressure to run the engine, that only if the bulb isn't blown and one never gets any warning at all! Just seems odd that monitoring oil temperature should be more important than monitoring oil pressure!

RE: Oil temp gauge?
This is more of an off topic question but germans in general like to know what all the temperatures are rather than pressures. You only really need an oil pressure gauge withhigh performance engines.
For instance i can tell more problems with the engine with an oil temp gauge than i can with a pressure gauge. If the engine has a blown headgasket for instance i can tell pretty easily if the oil temp is up very high as well as the engine coolant.
That and its German, who knows what they are thinking?
