New here... help me please.
I recently traded my 87 transam for a 99 audi a4 quattro 1.8T
The guy told me the turbo was bad.... He said he replaced it once and didnt flush or change his oil lines and the second one burnt up. The car has 140k miles on it.
The question is i tried to drive the car up the lane and it got to top end of first gear then kinda went to nutural. The guy told me that it wont drive correctly unless the turbo is working correctly is there any truth to this? or is the tranny going bad?
Also what would it be worth with a good turbo in it and whats it worth without the turbo replaced im trying to see if its worth my time.
any input would be greatly appreciated.

Its makeing the noise you say.. so the turbo is bad. But from what he said the tranny wont shift unless it senses the turbo making boost???? im new to all of this im used to a small block chevy that i can tear down and rebuild in a day.

I just found a stock turbo off a jetta for 125 bucks from a friend of mine. 50k miles on it he took it off to upgrade to a ko3 S so that solves that problem.. now i just need to know how to put the thing on.

I cant find a writeup to replace it, id search google, i was havin a tough time finding one though, maybe someone will post it. Make sure you correct the oil feed and the coolant feed cause it sounds like they are screwed up.

my plan was to take the turbo out and start the car and let the lines spray out whatever they have to spray out and make sure there is good flow and no junk..... then do a oil change and add lucas oil stuff because i dont reel like spending the 100 or more for a new oil line.

Im not really the guy to be making a call on whether its a good idea or not since ive never replaced a turbo yet, i was hoping i could find a writeup. But it sounds alright, just makes sure the lines are good when u replace it and ur good.. Make sure you get some G12 coolant for the stuff that spills out.
