more oil related questions. whats your temps, oil and stuff
There was a post about what kind of oil to use a few days ago. I am wanted to know what everybody uses for their oil, what the engine oil temps are and the outside temps. I wanted to see if there is a difference with the cars and the type of oil using.
I use
Amsoil 0-30w
outside temp 75 and below engine oil temp 180-190 deg
outside temp 75-90deg and engine oil temp usually around the 200 deg range
outside temp 90 and above guessing between 215 and 220
I have never ever ever reached the 225 mark
I have an oil pressure gauge and at startup and crusing speeds it is about 65-70psi
Would like to know if everybody is similar and what kind of oil, and anything else I may be missing

I think synthetics are better. I dont think there is one synthetic that is the all MIGHTY MOTOR OIL though, they are all good just filter it good and change it when needed. Most would probably agree.
I guess for that mater non-synthetics are ok just have to change them more often.

Audi sent a letter of their approved oils, due to some owner's issues about "oil sludge"

Interesting, I'm suprised 0W 40 is the only viscosity of Mobil 1 listed. No Royal Purple, no Amsoil. I wonder how many oils they tested and failed?
