Unhappy Loud whistle sound from engine compartment on C5 3.0. Please help!

Hi there, recently my 2002 Audi A6 3.0 started whistling, and no, it was not singing
It might be a vacuum problem, not really sure, I am not a mechanic. For no reason I tried to open the oil cap when engine was running and it had a very strong suction, had to fight it to pull it out (far stronger than any household vacuum cleaner I've seen).
Someone recommended to spray carburetor cleaner on hoses to see if there's any fluctuation in car's RPM, I guess it's an old trick to find leaks... Did that and nothing happened.

Please help me to understand what's going on before I go to a mechanic and fix it. I do not want to be robbed for changing a $40 valve. If it's easy to fix I am willing to get it done myself.

Thanks.

I have read in other forums that this is an indication of a faulty PCV valve. I would start there.

Thanks bud, glad someone answered this post after being viewed 200 times. I took it to a mechanic and told me that the PCV valve comes as an assembly kit from Audi delaership and it's $240. labor is $120. they found the air intake hose broken also and is 100 bucks and $50 to install. I ended up paying over $530 for a pcv valve. I was really hoping that posting here I could find an advice from an expert and guide me trough the repair.... i could've saved about $400

I appreciate your reponse though

Yea it doesn't appear that many people actually respond on this forum so i'm moving over to Audizine. Trying to get some help myself on some things and responses are kinda important.
