light tapping
I have a 2004 a4 1.8 and I have been hearing this light tapping sound coming from the front of my car. It is not a knocking sound but a faint tapping. The tapping does not start until i push the gas, as soon as i take my foot off the gas the tapping goes away.
I also need an oil change and since this is my first audi and im new to these types of vehicles. what does every one suggest. either doing it myself or taking the car in to get the change done. Can somebody tell me how much ill be saving with both and a good filter i can get if done myself.
last but not least. i bought front break pads and well i cant get the caliper off . I take the 2 bolts off but the piston cylinder will not depress which will not let me take it off the rotor. I have read that you need a special tool but i cant even get it off the rotor to use the tool.
aorry theres a lot i need help with but any help is greatly appreciated.

change your oil yourself order an oil filter from www.ecstuning.com those filters are better.
Use mobil 1 synthetic, 1.8t requires 0w-40,5w-30,or5w40 it's not cheap but I saw a 5 qt container at walmart of 5w30 for $26 that's the cheapest I've seen it. 1.8t should take 4.3qts, I would get some extra just in case.
I would service the entire car first then work on what ever problems still persist. some times the service clears things up sometimes not. Sometimes you notice broken things while you work. But at least you will know what is good. If the oil is old and crap you could be getting a tap from it.
you can get a manual at www.bentleypublishers.com

How many miles are on this car? If you're close to the 80k mark i would say you're water pump is knocking. If you haven't had the timing belt/water pump, thermostat etc. changed you are in need of this ASAP.
Pouring some seafoam in with the oil when changing it will help clear out all the oil channels and release lifter buckets that could cause a tapping issue as well.
