Key won't program

RE: Key won't program
Thanks avant80@2.6 !
I've followed similiar procedures before with no luck, I'll give it another go though as this info is more detailed.
When I bought the car it only had 1 key/remote. After the system failed I obtained another remote and had another key cut. This second key will not start the car, I guess this is because the transpoder inside the key needs programming by a dealer. Do you know if this will effect trying to reprogram the remotes?

RE: Key won't program
Still no luck[>:] another thought I had is the fact that I have changed the stock radio! Does the wire which connects the stock radio to the alarm system, complete the circuit? I think this wire is just doing nothing now, so am I missing an earthing point by it not being connected? Would like to know for sure before I start butchering the dash trying to get the head unit out again...Thanks.

RE: Key won't program
I just bought a 4 button remote off ebay FCC ID: MZ2 410 819 6 3.
I have tried exactly the way advised in this forum.
Switch ignition on (using separate key).
1- Lock vehicle from outside using key to be coded via driver-side door lock.
2- Press "unlock" button within 5 seconds often enough to reach next
memory position.
No emergency flashers nor the anti-theft system horn comes on.
I finaly took it to the dealer to get to programed and he did the exact thing that I tried from this forum. No luck..and he first said the battery was bad then after testing the battery he said battery is good but it looks like the remote may be bad. Is there anyway the remote can go bad??
