jacked up fuel readings and window makes grinding noise
bout a month ago i bought a 2004 audi a4 1.8t quattro. sometimes my fuel gauge wont work, sometimes it reads way about full. sometimes it reads lower than what it really is. is there a level sensor on the pump or what? second issue happened last night. i went to roll up the window it made a grinding noise and then stopped. i tried again it went up then back down. then it went up but still grinds. any ideas id really appreciate it.

My old B5 did the same thing. I found the the connections to the fuel gauge sending unit in the fuel tank were all corroded. Go to http://www.a4mods.com/index.php?page.../fuelpump.html to find out how to remove the sending unit and clean up all the connections. If that does not work, then you will probably need a new sending unit.
As for the window, sounds like a regulator. I've never had one go out on my car, but I've replaced many of them that were making odd noises. You can check out this DIY https://www.audiforums.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=130032 for more information on that. If it is one of the front windows, I've heard you can do something called the clip trick. Something about replacing just the clips that hold the window to the regulator. I've never done one so someone who has would probably chip in on that.

The windows are probably broken clips. The clips that hold the window to the regulator are cheep plastic. Audi did upgrade the clips to have metal so that the clips would last longer. My windows would go down then not come up, both front windows had broken clips. It is worth a shot to check if the clips are bad. It took me about 2 hours to do each window, It could probably be done faster I was just being careful.
