How do you take a fuel pump out
[:@][sm=smiley21.gif][sm=smiley28.gif][sm=smiley35.gif][sm=smiley6.gif][sm=smiley7.gif]Guys I think my fuel pump is gone bad cause the carcut offon me when I was driving and it will start up and then cut right off after it sets then it will start and run for awhile. any ideas on what could be the problem?

Be careful with the anticlockwise turning. I have an 95 A6 quattro and i was replacing fuel pump month ago. The pump didn't need ANY turning, simply pull it out. No special tool needed. Just do it with your hand. Hold the tube that goes from the pump and that's it. The gasket can be mispositioned when turning with it and reposition back is a hell of a nightmare.
Depends on a type of audi you have (and date of manufacturing i guess), 'cos i've seen various gaskets used in Audi and yes, some of those had the pump in some mysterious housings that need to be removed first. My pump was simply inserted into gasket and just two tiny plastic pins were holding the pump in place. Pulling removed the pump and inserting was the same way. No need to dismantle anything...
