Hacked Remote Entry System?
Hi everyone,
I parked my Audi A4 on a busy street at 11am in San Francisco (broad daylight) to run a quick errand on June 12, 2012. When I returned to the car, I noticed that the remote entry buttons on my key no longer communicated with the car. I subsequently realized that my laptop had been stolen out of the back seat.
There were no signs of forced entry or that the alarm had gone off. I am certain that I locked the car when I ran the errand. The fact that my remote had to be reset suggests that the remote entry system was somehow hacked for the burglar to enter my car.
Does anyone have experience with this issue? I spoke to my Audi dealer and they told me that there are no available security updates to that system. However, I'm afraid that it's easy for people to just override the keyless entry system and access my Audi.
Thanks for any suggestions.

My A4 and my neighbours A3 keep getting broken into. No sign of forced entry. Thief just goes through glove box nicking anything of value.
It has happened half a dozen times.
We can't have forgotten to lock our cars every time.
There has to be some sort of electronic release.
Remote keys have not needed resetting though.
I've had to start leaving the glove box open.
Looking for others who have the same issue.

if you search the web you will find that Audi's keyless entry system is being abused by way of clever people forging documents and obtaining duplicate keys for audis by getting information off the reg plate. there is obviously other ways people are managing to bypass the keyless system but this is one thats going about. saddening
