Good price for timing belt service??
My A6 4.2 is going in on Tuesday for some major service. I'm having it done at a local shop that I have been taking it to the past couple of months. Good group of guys and very reliable. I'm having the 70k service, Timing Belt, Water Pump and everything else that comes with the timing belt service completed. They are also replacing some major part that is done at the 80k just to get it out of the way. They are doing all the work for $1,350 which I thought was a reasonable price for all the work. The 70k service alone was quoted $340 at the local dealer.
Does this sound like a good deal? Just thought I would get some input. I thought 70k was a little early for the timing beltbut may as well get it out of the way and not have to do it later. I've noticed that the recommended timing belt change can be anywhere between 70k - 105k depending on who you ask and no one has a definite Audi mileage for the service...
Thanks for the feedback.

I thought the 4.2 was a V8. The timing belt jobon the 6 and 4 cylinder
engines should cost around $750. What major part are they replacing?

Yes, the 4.2 is a V-8. The stealer quoted me at almost $1300 alone for the timing belt change. I thought it was a good deal for the whole job.

I'm in western Michigan and take my 2003 A6 2.7T to a local shop that has a very good reputation and has donequality work for me. Their hourly rate is $75. The timing belt change with all the other pieces (water pump, tensioners, etc) was estimated at $900-1000. I've seen prices of $1200-1400 noted in the A6 forum.
