Glowplugs light flashing whilst driving 1.9TDi
My Glowplugs Light on the dash (the coil symbol) has started to flash whilst driving. The manual says there could be an engine management system problem but surely in that case the engine management light would flash (which it isn't)?
Car only had a service last month so I'll be taking it back for them to look at but I won't be able to get there for a few days. Wondered if anyone else had any help?
Thanks

Thats really strange as the glow plugs only come on during cold start. Also, glow plug system failures most always throw a check engine light. As far as i know the ecm turns on that light. Im wondering if there isnt an issue with the ecm or cluster. Howerever usually a glow plug issue is resolved with either a new glow plug or glow plug harness.

it could need new glow plugs does it start up easy? does the light go off if not it could be either the glow plus or the relay but im with dankhound here, glow plugs are cheap to replace and more likely to be the problem but without doing a scan its just a guess

From experience the most likely cause is due to the brake light switch or if 2 brake light bulbs are blown. Check the bulbs first and replace if nessacery, then have a 5051 check run on the vehicle which will show up any faults. There can be a fault with the switch even if the brake lights work as the switch also sends a signal to the engine control unit. The rod on the switch may also be incorrectly adjusted causing an implausable signal due to, to much pressure being applied to the brake pedal before the lights come on.
