Gas Cap caused check engine light to go on
I just bought a 2004 Audi A4 CPO so I believe the car is fine and the only reason that the check engine light went on was because I didn't put the gas cap on tight enough.
Is there a way to Reset the Check Engine? the dealer wants to charge me to do it. I'm under general warranty and was told that if not a bad part I would be charged for service time.

Yes, the Check engine light can be cleared, all you need isVAG-com, if you don't have one, there is a listing near the top of these forums with owners of the Vag-com near you. Always record the error codes, then clear the codes. IF the CEL comes back on, it probly was not the gas cap.

RE: Gas Cap caused check engine light to go on
Do you know how how to Reset the check engine, is there a series of button functions that I can do. and I do not know how to do a "throttle body alignment:". I just want to reset the check engine light since it's only a matter of the gas cap not being put on tight enough.
I'm sure this happens all the time there must be an easier fix than going to the dealer
thanks

Since I know if was the gas cap I just want to reset the "check engine" I trying not to go to a service dept, mechanic, dealer and spend the money to be told that I didn't tighten my gas cap enough. I just want to clear the light. I'm sure it's not another problem
