Exclamation Couple of Questions

I just bought a 1999 A4 Quattro from one of my buddies. Its in pretty good condition. But there are a few little things wrong with it. The first thing is that my parking brake light flashes when i go. Even if the parking brake is disengaged. Im not sure if maybe just the sensor is off or what. But its driving me crazy. lol. Also the ABS light stays on too. My buddy took the car to a dealership and they tried simply resetting it but the lights just came back on. And also my buddy had a cup of juice in the cupholder and it spilled all down the front of the cd player and the heater controls. The buttons are sticking and i cant adjust anything cuz they wont come back out. Is there anyway i could remove the front plates to clean them off or is there a simpler way to do it????

my girlfriend has the same lights on her 99 Passat, they tried replacing the abs module and they went away then came back so they think it might be the ecu...just a couple ideas

Try spraying the buttons with RadioShack Contact Cleaner.

Did they bother to scan the ECU for codes to see if, just maybe, a bad wheel speed sensor might be tripping the light? Hell, there's only FOUR of them and they're under the car, subject to heat, exposure to the elements, exposure to damage from road debris, etc etc ad infinitum. If not, they're complete incurable retards. ABS sensors fail on these cars more often than on any other car I've owned or worked on. It is FAR from uncommon. VagCom can tell you if you have a bad wheel speed sensor. If you do, replace it and use VagCom to turn off the light if necessary (it went out on its own on my car, but others I know have had to use VagCom to turn it off).
