Bogging at high Rpm? 2000 TT
my car is a 2000 TT Quattro 180hp, when im shifting hard from a hole shot at the track upwards of 4k rpm the motor will bog down spark plugs dont look bad, could it be a fuel filter? im running 93 octane as well. and does anyone know the proper plug gap for this motor? i dont have the owners manual anymore. help!

plug gap will come pre-set when you buy plugs, but if you want to know it should be under the hood on the catalyst information sticker. how many miles are on it? could be weak spark breaking up. fuel filter? replace it anyways just to be sure, its easy enough and cheap (if its where im thinking it is and not in the tank)

the plug gaps were way off, as high as .050, i found through another forum the gap is supposed to be set at .032 did that, cleaned MAF sensor and changed fuel filter and ran lucas injector cleaner, so i am baffled now, the only way i could describe this is hitting your redline at 4k the car just hesitates badly and rather anoyingly. any ideas?

Check for any boost/vacuum leaks. If you don't find any, then your mass air flow sensor is probably to blame. Run your car with the MAF unplugged and see if it runs better. If so, then you have found the problem.

how would i check the boost pressure? also i cant find any lines that are leaking, i have a check engine light and the local parts store's code reader wont work on my car, i did however look at the MAF sensor and it is pretty dingy, and diconnecting the MAF itself caused a slight hiccup when i disconnected it but the idle stayed the same without any other small things i would have noticed. however i thought ahead and price checked a new MAF and my part store (schucks/kragen/checker, in case anyone is familiar with that franchise) prices them for 72 dollars w/ 30 dollar core.
