that is the speed warning symbol

the procedure for setting and resetting can vary based on which dash cluster you have in your car.

try this

2 speed warnings are driver configurable. One temporary, which remains until the vehicle is turned off, and one permanent that remains until you delete it.

To set speed warning 1, press the RH display button when the vehicle is at the desired speed.
To set warning 2, press the LH display button then press and hold the button for at least 2 seconds with the ignition key off. The currently stored speed will be displayed. Adjust the speed setting with the rocker switch on the end of the wiper stalk Adjustment is in 5 mph increments.
The speed warning will beep and display the indicator when you exceed the set speed by 6mph (10 km/h). The warning will go out if you drive 25 mph (40 km/h) higher than the set point for more than 30 seconds.

Thanks for the reply. i'll try what you suggested shortly. I read in another forum that if i press the reset button on the right hand wipe paddle the sign will go away. will that help ? Why does this sign come in the first place ?

imagine you are cruising down the open highway. Speed limit is 65 mph/105 kph. you are concerned about the possibility of exceeding the speed limit and incurring a citation. you set the speed warning so that it will let you know if you are exceeding whatever speed you have set it for. that way you don't have to constantly look at the speedometer and you don't get unintentionally carried away with how fast you are going.

Not trying to be a smartass but do you have the owners manual for the car? They are quite extensive and they cover these items in there. There are usually diagrams that will show you what buttons are what. Personally, I have never used this feature on my A8. Perhaps yours has been set to a ridiculously low speed.

Thank you Dave944, but my car is 2001 model, second hand, there were no manuals when I bought, may be any of forum friends have that owners manual and put that page on internet. This happend accidently, and set at very low speed.

I hate it when people toss those things.. They are damn near impossible to replace. My A8 is a 2003 so the information on it might work. Let me go dig it out..

I was digging on internet, I find and artikel about it. I find the LH and RH buttons. And easily solve the problem. I cancel speed limit (it was 10 KM/H). Anyhow thank you.

Excellent. I'm glad you got it figured out. I though it was probably set really low. I was about to go out to get the manual for my A8 and do some checking.
