Audi A4 B7 2.0 TDI Automatic Holding Gears
Hi guys,
so I basically bought this Audi A4 2.0 TDI Automatic around 6 months ago and it was driving fine for a while.
However, a month or so ago I was on the motorway and suffered a loss of power and the car went into limp mode. Upon restart it would kick out of limp mode and then go back limp after 20-30 minutes of driving.
Took it to the mechanic and was advised to have the EGR Replaced / Solenoid Valve Replaced and Boost Sensor replaced. Did all three and no luck.
Next advice was to change the turbo, and so I had that changed. Now the lack of boost issue has disappeared as has the limp mode.
However, I’m noticing that when I’m on the motorway if I am doing around 70mph and I plant the accelerator and click it to pick up speed. The car will get to around 4000-4500 revs and 95-100mph but it will not upshift to the next gear.
This occurrence occurs going from 5th to 6th where it gets “stuck” in 5th and it also occurs from 6th to 7th where it gets “stuck” in 6th gear.
I’m quite unsure as to what the issue is and I fear the worst that it could be the gearbox on its way out.
Can anyone advise or relate to the issues?
