a4 multitronic problems

RE: a4 multitronic problems
Today it was confirmed my tcm is faulty and for a mere $4,500 for the part plus fitting I can have a good transmission again. The car is an 2003 only worth $15,000 so the repair is a bit of a waste. I am following up on a supplier of reconditioned control units.

RE: a4 multitronic problems
hello,
did try to get the report from the two dealers, but no joy[:@] both of them didnt seem to be able to find the diagnosis reports.
Anyway just got out of another dealership with a full report.
the error code is 17090 P0706 035 Multi-function switch-F-125,Implausible signal The guys in this garage seemed to be ok.Told me that there could be few things that are wrong and said that i should replace the printed circuit first and if it does not rectify the problem then replace the ecu.

RE: a4 multitronic problems
Hi, mine was an implausible signal too. I have bought a audi workshop manual and will try to see what options I have. Sometimes the dashboard gear indicator lights work perfectly especially after acelerating so I will check voltage in and out. My diagnosis included a check wiring code. The shop checked and cleaned the connector with no change. I am still driving everydy. When it wont select Reverse I put it into drive and then R and it works. When all lights start flashing I stop the engine and restart and everything is normal. It has only stopped going forward once.

RE: a4 multitronic problems
hey guys just checking out your problem there. Sounds like its either the tiptronic selectorboard , under the shifter. Or a multi function switch. Afault memory of trans module will better pin point that. Wish you guys the best.

RE: a4 multitronic problems
Got the sadest news today the printed circuit didn`t solve the problem...(now i have a spare one [>:])so the next step would be a gearbox ecu or the gearbox itself, thats what the garage said to me they can`t be sure what exactly is faulty.........I am lost at this stage as don`t now what to do...replace the ecu or the g/box? Thinking about overhaling the g/box, could work out cheaper? and again it does not mean that it will rectyfy the fault.[>:]
Any suggestions?[&o]

Is there any update to this? My car has been having the same problem for the past 3 months and it was happening occasionally, now it's happening every time I drive.
I made a twitter account, hoping to tweet my troubles and my 'journey' to getting it fixed. Hoping to show AoA all the problems with our cars and getting them to reimburse us for repairs.

Dashboard Gear Indicator Flashing
Hi
I appear to have similar problems to some of the previous posts. I have a 2004 A6 T SE CVT auto. I have recently had the gearbox oil changed as part of the service. Anyway driving today all of a sudden the gear indicators on the dashboard all started flashing red. There appears to be no othe problems. The car drives OK and engages reverse. Even after switching the engine off and on again a couple of hours later the problem still exists. It appears to be spadmodic because a week or so ago the same thing happening but then cleared itself.
Question - what is causing this; is it dangerous i.e. do I need to worry about it?
Thanks
Clive
