Default A3 Windshield Replacement

Hello,

I own a 2006 A3 and I need to replace the windshield. One Audi dealership say that I cannot move the car for 24 hours, the other dealership says that after 3 hours it can be moved.

I have already purchased the Audi windshield and it is sitting in my garage, I want the windshield guy to come to my house, is replacing this windshield typical to some other model, or would I be best going to the dealer for this thing. I am under the impression that the dealer is just "calling a windshield guy" to come and do the work, is this correct?

Any help is appreciated, I am in the LA area if you know of any good "Audi Windshield" guys, thanks

Aaron

I need to replace mine too,

It depends on what glue are they using. some will dry faster, some longer.

If it hot it will dry faster.

Thats exactly it. There are two types of glue. The quick set stuff alows you to drive the car immediatly but it costs more to use. Call around. Most glass places work out of a van or truck and can replace a windsheild on location.

I need to replace my 2001 allroad windshield. I am researching prices to determine what company to perform the service (Safelite AutoGlass, dealer, etc.). Are there various grades of glass I could end up with if I do not specify, or is there only one glass company that makes windshields for all allroads?

There are all sorts of different brands of glass makers. Just like with other car parts. If you want you can request a factory windsheild, but expect the price to go up.
