I did another oil change on Friday night when looking at the leak. I had a dealer who does not work on Audi's, they were the only one open, and they couldn't find it, I drove it limited on saturday and none on Sunday, I checked it this morning and it is almost out of oil. Could any of the solutions, leak that much? Or do I have a cracked gasket somewhere pouring oil out?

The breather hose wouls only leak mostly oil vapor, which would condense and drip down, THEN smoke... It'd take a good while before enough blew out to empty the pan. don't know about the others...

if it were the head gasket you would know it would smoke excessively or it could be leaking into the coolant only so have a look at the coolant

On the drive home last night, It was the smoking banshee car. You know that car that you don't know how they drive without being pulled over for pollution. At the red lights, it looked like my engine was on fire for as much smoke was coming out. I don't see oil coming out of the head gasket area, it seems to be lower on the engine, but definitely above the oil pan.
Also, the hotter it gets, the more smoke comes out. I know it's because the engine burns the oil quicker, but this was exponential growth. at 150, hardly any smoke, at 200 it was embarrassing. I still think it's the breather valves. I'm taking it in the shop on Thursday, we'll see what they say.

Thanks for all of the help so far.

I just got the phone call, it's the camshaft gasket. total price about $1,500.

my question is how does something like a gasket go from no problem to a $1,500 repair bill in no time at all? They tried to explain to me that this is something that goes bad slowly, a little at a time, but anyway you look at it, it's a big bill.

Thanks for all of your help

$1500 hell are they replacing the engine when all it needs is a rocker cover gasket and chances are all it needs to be tightened down, their answers are not good enough but good luck anyway

+1

Ask them to give you a more precise itemization of what they plan to DO with your $1500.00 That DOES sound a smidge HIGH for replacing a gasket that's on TOP of the motor. Tell them to torque the cam cover bolts to spec (8lbs, I believe Avant once told me), pay them whatever their rate is for .5 hours of labor, and see how that does!
