98 A4 transmission issues when wet?
I have a 1998 Audi A4 2.8L V6 that is having problems with the transmission locking into gear when it is wet. I just had the transmission replaced a couple of months ago and since I live at my school didn't drive it much for the first couple of weeks after it got fixed and when I got back it worked fine, but had some water leaking in the passenger side, which had actually pooled up a bit. After that it didn't work for a few weeks. It feels like the transmission is trying to go into gear, where I feel the little lurch, but when I press on the gas, it remains in neutral. Yesterday I started it up and it worked fine though. I was happy and washed it, then after that it was working a little but half of the time I would try to go into gear it wouldn't work. It seems to me that it is probably something to do with the water leaking, but I'm no Audi expert. Do you have any advice what I can try to do, or have a mechanic do?

my friend had this problem on his jetta 2.0 auto. it wouldnt go into gear and it was slipping really bad. he got it rebuilt and it worked fine for a while but then it went back to how it was, (good thing they gave him a warranty) so then he just got it fixed and sold it right away!
