Default 98 A4 hesitates to accelerate

Hi, So I noticed the other day while accelerating at an average pace ,not to slow and not to fast, that at about 40 mph the car kinda hesitated to accelerate. I pushed the gas a little harder and then it finally kicked up and started speeding up again. This has happened a couple times. Every time it is around the same speed ,40 mph. I either have to give it a little more gas than normal or let off and then hit it again. What could be causing this? Could it possibly be that I just need new spark plugs. Also it only does this some times, and only when accelrating at a normal speed. Thanx By the way the car is a 98 audi A4 2.8 quattro.

Im gonna go with the vaccum lines are going bad. i had the same problem with my 12v, replaced the vaccum lines with $5 hoses from NAPA and it fixed a host of problems including a EGR code being thrown causing the loss of power and slow acceleration and i actually get better fuel economy. try that and run some sea foam through the engine and the tank, that should clear up any gunk on the injectors and deposits on the valves and combustion chamber.and
