96 audi a4 quattro slow acceleration?

96 audi a4 quattro slow acceleration?
It lags on takeoff but it idols between 1-2000 rpm after a few seconds it speeds up but I can't make it thru sum stoplights BC it takes off so slow. Does anyone know what might b wrong?
