So for those of you on the edge of your seat, I have found the culprit and fixed the issue.
What was causing the creaking was the front-left outer CV joint. I noticed there was a large amount of grease on the inner side of the rim as well as a bit sitting on the exterior of the CV joints boot (no visible cracks/tears in the boot though); I pulled the axles' connection point to the wheel bearing and played with the CV joint (rotating it) and found it was rather loose. After replacing the entire axle (car was exhibiting loud creaking and major vibrations at speed) everything was back to normal.
