1999 A4 Clutch Issue?-HELP STRANDED
So I have an A4 1.8 Turbo with supposedly 40k or less on the new clutch and while driving it today it popped out of second gear and now the clutch won't engage I think. The car is stuck on the side of the road and when I put it in any gear including reverse the car won't move at all. Though when my friend revved it up and put it in gear (I wasn't paying attention and he did it -_-) the car kind of jumped maybe half and inch.
The car can be put in gear without even using the clutch, but it still doesn't move. The clutch pedal still has pressure and feels firm.
Something I noticed that was really weird to me was that when the car is put into gear the speedometer will actually go up and I can hear a whirring noise.
What I'm trying to figure out is how this happened...I've had cars that have had the pivot ball joint break when I was racing and such which made it near impossible to put into gear, but at least the car would move once in gear. I've also seen a car destroy the clutch, but the idiot was trying to "drift" in a stock car with an old shitty stock clutch.
In this case I was mildly accelerating and at roughly 2000 rpm when this all happened and has me stumped...I just want to figure this out before I commit to spending $400 on a clutch kit.
Another possibility would be the transmission, but I wouldn't think that ALL the gears don't work...Just really need some insight ASAP on this since it's sitting on the side of the road.
EDIT: If it helps the car has 130k on it.
