1997 Audi A4 Quattro vibration during deceleration and acceleration
hey there guys... I am completely baffled and so is my local Audi garage at the vibration that I have. The only time it happens is when i am decelerating while in gear or when i am accelerating in 1st or 2nd and sometimes 3rd. When I am decelerating if i put in the clutch the vibration goes away. I have put in a new clutch, rear driveshaft front drivers side CV shaft, upper control arms on both sides in the front and a 4 wheel alignment. Checked the engine and transmission mounts and they are fine. Checked the alignment of engine and transmission with the driveline and everything is fine that way. I am looking for suggestions of any kind because at this point we cant find anything that is wrong.
thanks in advance
Chris

So what was the problem?
Hey,
I am also experiencing something similar. I got the 1996 A4 Quattro 2.8L. When I am accelerating (and may be decelerating - need to check that), in 1st,2nd and sometimes 3rd gear, the RPM goes really high but the car doesn't increase speed. And there is a vibration, like the one you mentioned, after which the speed increases gradually.
Is your problem diagnosed? What was the problem?Help is appreciated!
Thanks,
Debo

Hey,
I'm having the same problem with mine only it is an automatic. It was perfectly fine driving until all of a sudden I noticed slight shaking when I accelerate a certain way---mid acceleration, like while going up hills---the very next day I went to drive it only 10 minutes down the street and it felt like it wasnt going to make it, I've heard that timing belts are sometimes an issue but as far as I can tell when I look at the engine when I press the acceleration trigger (under the hood) the only thing I see happening is the entire engine shake hard. If either of you have solved your issue or you think it may be related to mine please let me know! Thanks.
