I would like to get some nice rims, but I am not sure if a larger rim would look right on the car without lowering it... I have no plans on lowering the car but cannot decide if I should get asetof 17" rims or just get a really nice pair of 16" rims...

Would 17's look funny without lowering the car?

you should check to see if you have the sports package. If you do, then it wont look too retarded, but if you dont have the sports package( different shocks and springs, i think) then 18's and maybe 17's will look horrible.

I'm in the same boat as you, i want new rims, but i have to get my car lowered or it will look bad

there is a post somewhere in the A4 section with pictures of non-sport A4's with big rims and not lowered and you can see how awful it looks

 

I doubt I have the sport package... I know I have the sport steering wheel but my car sits up kinda' high... It sure turns like it is on rails though...

essentially, the bigger of a rim you go, the bigger the wheel gap will look because of the lower profile tire.

 

Yea' I am thinkin' about a 205x50 on a 17" rim... The speedo will be knocked off about a half a mile per hour at 55mph... This will help keep the profile close to stock... I might just keep the stock rims or get some nice 16's since the tire I want doubles in price when I go to a 17...
