RE: Taking off emblems on back of car...
Just did mine. No holes, just double sided tape. Heated them up with a hair dryer, and used fishing line to skim them off. The residual glue was a bit of a pain. I used goo-gone and a lot of elbow grease. Developed one small scratch from over buffing, but it pretty much came out with a little light buffing compound and wax. It looks great.

do you know anyone at all at a body shop? i went to this guy that my friend knows and i brought my friend. it took literally 5 minutes to do. he used a little plastic scraper to pop them right off. then he used one of those air powered eraser things and it came out pefect.
if not, all the ways with fishing line and heatin them up and stuff work too.

just to let you all know, i popped them off with no problem at all, maybe because it was like 100 degrees outside. i used some bug remover which said it was safe on all paints. i did all this with no sctratches or anything, it looks perfect and sooooo much better than with them on. Thanks for the advice people

I took them off to day and it looks great. I used alot of goo-gone, floss, a snowboard wax scraper, cleaner wax and a clay bar. Also, a hair bryer and it worked great. the a4 came off easy. The 2.8 quattro had more stuff left over and that took a while to get off but now it looks amazing.

Has anyone tried removing the rings on a B5? I am going to shave my new car and am thinking about taking the rings off. Are they also glued on the B5, or do they have holes? Do you think removing your emblums makes you any more of a target for getting your car keyed? Or does it help by keeping the car discrete?
