3 Paint Chips in 3 Weeks???
I have had my 2011 A4 since 12/27/11 and within that timeframe have already had 3 hood chips??? This seems pretty extreme for a brand new car! Has anyone else been having this issue? I knew owning a black car would definitely be more maintenance, but really? I no sooner returned from the dealer last night to pick up the car after them filling in two paint chips, only to park the car in the garage to find a NEW CHIP!... I plan on putting a clear mask across the front to protect the hood, but it needs to be chip free first! I appreciate any feedback.

Similar problem on s4 2012. After a few drives in canadian winter, 10s of very very small chips (I drive my spouse Kia the same way I drive my S4 and no chips).
I doubt it is due to black paints. I really start to see a pattern here.
Since dealer says.. "its the small rock that did it and your car is black" (ya... what about fragile paint )... then I covered the whole car with venture shield. No more issues.

Hi,
My only regret was not knowing about venture shield and do it AS I got the car.
I did not need to touch up, the chips were really small, like a grain of sand.
However, I had it compounded and polished to make sure the surface was at best.
Since the car is black, venture shield (or alike) prevent swirls and can have many scratches fixed by head gun.
However... I think this is not normal...There are no many VW, Audi, and others out there... I am surprised more customers do not complain... OR... it is specific to a few cars because something in the process was not done correctly... How proove it?

Fortunately for us, we had used the product before.
There are quite a few posts about soft paint issues in Audi cars throughout the different forums (usually not enough clear coat, or poor quality clear coat).
Unfortunately, I don't think Audi really cares at all when it comes to customer complaints of poor manufacturing processes. Our car came with defective window seal material (soft rubber that scratches easily, and does not match on all windows), and warped on one window; as well as debris in the paint on driver door and a bubble on the door jamb of another. I have contacted several forum members through PM that have these same issues on their 2012 A3's. There does not seem to be any issues with window seals prior to 2012 models.
We contacted Audi several times on these issues, and they refuse to do anything about them. They will not even send a representative out to look at the car!
