Default Suggestions for MP3 playback in 98 A6 Avant

Hello,
I'm the proud owner of a 1998 Audi A6 Avant as of today. I would like to be able to play a CD full of MP3's and wasn't sure the best route.
The car does have a CD changer in the back but no cd magazine. Can't even find a magazine on ebay. I saw an Alpine changer that would play MP3's for Audi's 98-02 but it is the 13 pin connector. The 98 Avant still used the older 8 pin version.

Any suggestions on how to easily upgrade the changer to play MP3's? Is there such a thing as an adapter that will turn the 8-pin connector to a 13 pin connector?

I have a really nice Alpine headunit that plays MP3's but I'm not sure how easy it would be to install... It does not have line level outputs but three separate RCA outs (front/rear/sub). Does the factory amp even have RCA inputs or would I need another converter. Also, it is a standard DIN sized HU and I kind of like the clean look of the factory unit. If I swapped the HU, it seems like I would also need to replace the amp as well.

I think this is a Bose system. The stereo says BOSE when it comes on and the rear woofer cover says Bose. The front speaker covers are blank though. I'm okay with the sound quality but am really just interested in an easy way to add MP3 playback capability. Oh, and I'm not really interested in ipod connectors, tape converters, fm modulators.

Any suggestions? I'm open to buying a new CD changer if it will connect easily.

Nah noone will make the wireharness to change 9-13 pin not in that sytle atleast. Thing you can do. Bypass thew factory amp and get a Metra 70-1874 or 80-1784 wiring harness (i believe not posititve will need to double check on part #) and use your apline head unit that you have.
