new trunk setup
#4
Well to tell u the truth ive tried both. i would say face the rear or facing up. IF u face the rear of the car u will acheive a deeper bass with more rattles outside so be prepared to cusion your license plate because that will rattle alot. Also i dont know if your car is the same as the b6 but i have the most annoying problem with those little vents in the trunk that are located near the rear lower part of the bumper. everytime my bass hits the air escapes and makes a distorted noise. so if u get funny rattle that might be an other place to inspect. Ive rear that if u have enough room either aim your port or your subs up facing the rear deck. And plan on gettin rattles from that area that houses the third brake light. When i want to really crank my music i normally open one seat and it sounds alot louder. Wat equipment do u plan on running and how big is ur box and port.

if u wanna get creative get a piece of sheetrock and build a frame around it. I had my old setup like that and it looked real nice. then go to a fabric store get sum cheap vinly or cloth or suede and upholster it. Mine use to be a frame around the subs but i play golf alot and one day my 9 iron almost ripped threw my speaker so i had to cover them as thats why my setup is the way it is now. I also have my pool cues underneath the floor so i have storage still. Plus it all comes out inabout 30 seconds.

You said that you put sheetrock as your cover, don't you mean plywood because I would think that sheetrock would crumble and fall appart after awhile. You have a very clean install and I want to do something like that soon

The wall is sheetrock and the floor is mdf as well as the little side cubby. i originally had plywood but its harder to get the contours of the top just right. So i bought a piece of sheetrock and cut it out with a skill saw and it made shaping it real easy. Then i taped up the edges got some foam to make it look soft and pulled the fabric over that and stapled it. Its been in there for about 4 months now and hasnt fallen apart yet. Plus its way lighter and it all comes out in about 30 seconds. if u do plan on doing something like this make sure to leave a few inches between the wall and the subs or u will get a loud vibration. I should post pics on how it goes in comes out.
heres a pic from the back.
