I have a 2012 A4 Premium (Non B&O sound system)

I could really use some help.
I'm trying to install an after market subwoofer and amp with the stock headunit. I'm not getting the sub fitted into the trunk to save space or anything. It will just have a box sitting in the trunk. Does anyone know the best way to install. Need some help with
1) Wiring overall (Best ways to do this)
1) a good place to ground the wire
2) Is it possible to do this without having to run the wire to the headunit

the easiest way is to use a loc. As for the ground i had just drilled a small hole in the truck near the seat. If u go to far back u run the risk of drilling into your gas tank which is very very bad. I would say the hardest part is removing the panels to run the wires. I would start from the front near the kick panel and dead pedal are and work hyour way back. U will need to remove the fuse cover inorder to get the first floor panel off. iirc. . . .

 

I used a bolt for the seatbelts under the seats for my ground, there was a nice hole in my firewall already for my power (2002s4) not sure if its the same for your car

Not sure if you have completed your project, but I just tackled a sub install on my 2013 A4 Prestige this weekend.

If the '12 is the same as the '13 (and I think in this regard it is), then the battery is in the trunk which makes running power extremely easy. As for ground, there's a factory ground already in the trunk in the drivers-side panel just forward of the factory amp location. For signal, you can use a LOC or an amplifier which accepts speaker-level inputs, and just tap off the factory subwoofer channel (white w/ yellow, blue w/ yellow).

Even doing an extremely careful and precisely-measured installation, this project only took a few hours.

 

man i wish my battery was in the trunk. That would make the install simple as pie!
