2009 Q5 MMI won't pair with iPhone 4s, HELP!
Hello. My wife and I just upgraded from iphone 4 to iphone 4s models.
I drive another German car brand and was able to easily pair my new 4s with the nav/audio in that car
My wife drives a 2009 Audi Q5 with the MMI/Nav. No matter what I try I cannot get the phone to pair with the MMI. I have created 2 videos that illustrate the issue. They are posted below.
I am surprised there is not much chatter about this issue on the internet. I am hopeful that means that I am just a dummy and that there is some simple fix that can solve this problem. I have talked with the dealer and Audi USA and I get conflicting info. If you go to Audi's website they say that the iphone 4 should not work with cars before 2011 but that is INSANE and besides they DO work with the 2009 models. The hands free profile should not be this hard to manage! And for us this is a safety issue as well. I would think that the iphone user is pretty much in the sweetspot for the audi demographic: tech savvy drivers who appreciate quality and fine engineering.
Any suggestions/thoughts/experiences would be appreciated
Thanks

Thanks. The PIN code is a part of the process. On some of the units it defaults to 1234. On my unit, it asks you to create one as part of the pairing process. I showed that in my video. We did not have a problem with the iPhone4...but the 4S won't take the PIN, 1234 or otherwise...

Only phones with compatable software can be paired. What I mean is, a lot of times when a new type of phone comes out after the vehicle is built it may not pair. The phone interface module software was written before the new phone. Not sure how to explain it. There MAY be a software update available (for the vehicle) to solve the issue. When I get a chance, I'll try to check.
Just for the heck of it, did you try a PIN of 0000?
