looking at buying an 88 90 quattro. i have been reading reviews and looking around at things to look for. any major things i should look for? reliability? the car has 158,000 miles on it, should i worry about anything because of milage? basically anything anyone can tell me about these cars would be very helpful. i will drive this car everyday as my jeep is no longer ideal for commuting. thanks all.

 

At that high of mileage, you should look for a good engine supplier! I say that hoping you won't need one. These are well engineered vehicles... run a carfax, obviously.

As far as maintenance schedules, you can get those from the dealership. I would definately have your timing checked. I think there is a timing chain on your bad boy; if it's a belt change it.
