Default Water/rust in gas tank Audi 100

Hello all.

My father has had his Audi 100 sitting on the driveway a few years. (Needed a radiator, finally found one, replaced it, car didn't start, got distracted.) Anyway, so we went back to trying to figure out why it wouldn't start, and we followed the problem back to the fuel pump/gas tank. The tank was full (of water apparantly, not gas) and we don't know where the water came from, but now the tank is coated with rusty slime.

What do we need to do next? Can you clean out the water and rust? Or do we need to get a new tank?

Thanks!

Vira

what part of the country are you in? I'm in Ohio & have a spare that should work - if you want it.
