Default Not to sound redundant..

I have a 1985 Audi 5000 S (2.2L FI) that I've been driving for about 3 years with no major breakdowns or problems. I've had alot of small problems that I see are common from reading this forum like; door handles and locks not working (I currently have one door that opens from the outside and it's the rear passenger[:@] ) running hot, loosing antifreeze, and lately having problems staying running when I stop.
Anyway now I can't get it started at all. I drove it home after work the other night, put $20 worth of gas in it and parked it. The next morning I try to start it and it takes a couple tries (which is not uncommon) to get it running and it cuts out (which is also not uncommon). Repeat this a couple times until it idles ok and go to back up and it dies again (not uncommon either). Usually it cuts off like this a couple times, especially at stops until the engine is warmed up or I can keep my foot on the gas and not have to stop, usually after about 5-10 minutes of driving it runs fine. This time as I'm driving, doing about 30mph it just dies. Stop and start it again drive a little ways and it dies again. After the third time I can't get it started at all. It hasn't started since. The engine turns but won't run.
Granted I haven't taken the best care of my car. Since I've owned it the coolant temp warning light has been blinking non-stop, then the oil pressure light, and sometimes the one with the ! inside of the triangle. I'm not sure if these have anything to do with the problem but I've driven with them blinking for 3 years. I changed the spark plugs and cleaned the distributor cap. It's getting spark. It acts like it's not getting fuel. So I checked the fuel pump which seems to be working. Took off the fuel filter and tried starting it and it's definelty getting gas. I was going to replace the fuel filter tomorrow but I don't think that's what it is.
Sorry to make it so long and ask another question that's been asked a 1,000 times. But I need some help. Low on cash so it's all d.i.y. with a friend helping. He said something about it might be the mass flow sensor or the fuel distributor since when we took off the fuel filter and tried starting it ALOT of gas came out. Maybe it's getting to much gas and cutting off. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
