New CQ
Hi everyone, Thought I'd join as I just picked up an old beast.
A 90 Quattro Coupe with 106000 on it. Replacing a 96 Nissan 200 SX-SER and a A4 Avant a 15 year old kid totaled in front of my house.
Any thoughts on what I should look out for on the QC would be greatly appreciated.
So far:
(bad)
Timing Belt (no history)
Drivers Side CV Boot (bad)
Valve cover Gasket (Leak)
Brakes (no reserve when shut off)
(good)
cat back exhaust (audi partsstickers)
clean oil (audi filters)
new abs sensors
Others include an 03 Allroad and a 95 GMC TD Pickup.

RE: New QC
The 90 coupe quattro is very similar to my 89 coupe quattro. They are great cars! 20v.org is a good website for all the info you will need.. also pick up a bently audi manual to help with repairs (this is a must).
I would add check the rubber ovals that hold up the exhaust system (there are 3), and make sure they aren't worn out, otherwise your system will rub on top of the rear diff, and burn a hole in the pipe (trust me I know hehe). Good you have new ABS sensors. The probs I have had with my car are the side seals and rear main seals on the tranny/front diff, ABS sensors, ISV valve (weird idle/reving), fuel pump going bad, PS pump leaking (got rebuild kit)and some electrical issues.
If you change the timing belt, make sure you put a new water pump in (no brainer). Same if you put new radiator in, change out the thermostat (its an easier job that way). I think my car has 350,00KM on it, and still runs pretty good. You will be happy with the car ALso check out 20v.org when you get the chance! Happy driving!
