Default Many 87' 5000QT Problems

Well I was out driving in our first snowfall of they year last night(25cm or about 11"), the rear end started making a clicking sounds under acceleration. Sounds like expensive quattro parts messing up in the rear. I do not have a FSM for this car does anyone know what would cause this?

Also I am having overheating issues.. I am not currently running a fan cause that issue is how I obtained the car at a low cost. It burnt out and roasted some wires. Last night I let it go to far as I could not keep my speed up under the driving conditions and it popped a hose off on the electric servo thing above the electric blower behind the rad. What are the usual symtoms after an over heating on this vehicle?

Thanks in advance

well, ovearheating is bad. its a fact.
second, most of the time, rings break and only by rebuild (min) you can return to normal.
the blown off hose, did it crack or just whent off its housing?
you can install, temp, switch to overide the system so that when you turn the switch the fan(s) turn on the rad.

Worst case they would break I dont think the coolent heated for long enough at temperature to do that, it heated to 110deg cel before a hose popped off, I should be able to get it operational for now.

I'm planning on tossing in a fan like that, I just need to pick up a relay and some wire.

How expensive and PITA are CV joints to reinstall? How would driving in deep snow make it click?

Sounds like you didn't have the $10 fusible link kit installed in your car. Standard equipment on 91 models but had to be retrofitted to the older models. If the over-temperature idiot light didn’t turn ON, provided that it is working properly , you should be OK! Audi 5000/100/200 doesn't have a good cooling system IMO. The problem is that the air is exposed to very little direct airflow, instead it sits behind a headlight assembly. The air deflector tends to disintegrate on these models and the electric cooling fan is the only thing that keeps the temperature in check. If you overcook the engine the most likely scenario is a warped head before you cook the oil. The 200 with 20V is a bit better because it has an auxiliary radiator behind the grill.

The rear suspension on the Quattro models is a multi-link. There are a number of things that could be clicking.

Where can I pick up this fusible link kit? I dont think there was any damage, but I havent run the car yet since the incident (getting coolent and being lazy)

Electronic FSM? is there one out there for this car? I could download many for my 240 but that car its really popular.
