I believe you will have to update wire system just to support the bulbs. but whatg could you do is to put a nice brite fog lights. think about it. :-)
you could use a H1 or its called H3 bulb go to 20v.org

Ah i love that site.. i forgot about looking there! Thanks for remind hehe... I found some lights over here in germany but I was not sure on them bec I have no idea what my actual bulbs look like. What would I have to do to the wiring?? My car is a german spec car (if that matters or not I dunno) but I will keep looking.I think my 89 is different than the 90-91 US cars.. I dont have turn signals next to my headlights, they are on the lower front bumper next to the fog lights. I may not have to mess with the wiring at all I hope not. The marker lights next the my headlights just come on when the headlights are on.. they dont blink or anything.. I hope to buy another audi coupe when i get back to the states.. they are cool cars to drive around in

nice. No if the car is European specs then the headlights can suport up to 80W of power in there. no nead to change wiring. I believe you can push up to like 90W of power without to much wory. also check if headlights are leveled proparly.
PS I love when turn signal is in the bumper. much cooler and nicer.
PSS You could add a extra pair of fog lights just under your stoc ones. check my pictures. about extra 100W of light shoting forward and straight.

Yeah I will check out your picts rigth after my little response here.. I thought the US models were about the same, but after checking them out, the whole front end seems different
I wish I could bring mine back, but 2 grand to convert it over is a lot to spend on an 89.. and parts would be just about impossible to find in the US. I will try to find some headlights then.. the lateral aiming screws are messed up... they are very RUSTY, and the little gear that turns the adjuster itself just keeps rotating around the adjuster screw.. I will have to use some wd40 in there. I like the turn signals in the bumper too. Let me check out your ride.. thanks for the info
