hey guys! I wanted some advice as to what type of gear oil should be used in the tranny. I put redline in it last time but it takes about a month to reach me, and I need something right now. I know you are not supposed to use hypoid? gear oil in it, but I wanted to know what type to use or should use for now until I can get some redline later on.

Also, before when I was less than 1/2 a tank I would hear a buzzing noise from the truck area.. i figured it was the fuel pump since i read that low fuel can cause an echo inside the tank when your driving around. That went away after I would fill the tank..

Now when I shut the car off (i have more than half a tank) I hear a buzzingi noise for a bit comming from the trunk.. is the fuel pump going bad????? Would putting in a new fuel filter help? I put some fuel cleaner in there recently since my RPMs were going wayyyyy too high (i figured clogged injectors) and it fixed that. Car is old, has 274,000K on it, but I keep her running and in good shape. Any help, info, advice, would be awesome. Thanks!

 

the oil, can use 75w-90,

the buzing is probably becouse the mounting gone bad, check it out by taking parts off the tank.

I have some red line oil for the rear diff, I think its 75/90 oil? Is there a difference between the tranny and rear diff when it comes to oil? Thanks again!!!! Now I don't have to worry about it running dry

 

to my knoledge the manual tranny requires the same oil as the rear diff.
I have no idea about hypoid. But I think all you nead is regular oil for that. DO NOT ADD ADICTIVES

 

thanks for the info I didn't see anything wrong with the tank.. the buzzing comes and goes. I hope it isn't the fuel pump!! Its only when i just turn off the car, or i am idling. Thanks for the help
