Default RE: fuel pump relay fuse

Well when I unplugged the the potentiometer.. the engine didn't do anything different. It seems to REV UP when I go from a gear into neutral.. it won't usually do it when I start up. Temp sensor... hummm no i have not checked that. Where is it located exactly?? I dont see any fault codes... would they be in the inst. cluster?? (i don't have the fancy setup that has the outside temp and what not displayed on the inst cluster (i think all US models came that way), and I do not have a radio in it).. so if there are fault codes I have no idea if they are comming up or not hehehhe.

Yes my car looks like the B3 ones with the B4 hood. The 88 B3 interior looks just like mine, except mine doesn't have leather, and the middle console is different between the ebrake and rear ashtray (I think they had casette tape holders there or something, seen something like that on an audi 80). REAR ELECTRIC WINDOWS in the red audi???? I didn't know that even existed! I didn't know they made these with a v6 either.. tht would be fun to take on the autobahn .. mine does fine until I go over 130-150 kph.. then she eats gas.. I haven't see any other glass sun roofs.. but I have seen some other b3 cars that have orange side marker lights on the sides of the front fenders.. I don't have any headlight washers on my front bumper either. If I get one of these cars back in the states.. I will have to change it to a b4. I think they look pretty cool Thanks for all the info!

its a common problem with this engine and in most cases its the piping from the Auxiliary air valve getting clogged up with oil slurry, second on the list is the VAF (variable air flow) which is located on the air filter housing I assume you have changed the air filter??

the picture is of the Auxiliary air valve an it controls the idle electronically

very difficult to explain the good old cars the ISV/AAV/rotary idle valve is the same thing and its not so much the valve but the pipes and the one going into the underside of the intake manifold, the slightest split in that pipe causes this problem

You should go to good Audi mechanic and check fault codes, all prcoedure is described on www.20v.org , so you can check it yourself
