Default ECU replacement

I just got an 88' A1000 and the ECU is fired, since they no longer make the computer for my car, can I take a a ECU from any other model and wire it into my car?

Thanks

Check the Bosch numbers on the ECU, if they match you can swap. Don't mix between automatic and manual transmission ECUs if the numbers don’t match even if the model years are the same.
